2027 Residencies
Constance Saltonstall Foundation for the Arts
A quiet studio. A beautiful setting. Time for inspiration. Saltonstall offers free stipend-supported residencies to artists and writers who are current residents of New York State and/or one of the Indian Nations located therein. Our residencies are designed for those looking for a quiet, supportive environment in which to focus on their craft. We offer 1- to 4-week sessions between mid-May and late-October. Our facilities are wheelchair friendly and include a private suite for a personal care assistant. In addition to our traditional 2- to 4-week residencies, we offer shorter 1-week residencies (one in mid-May, one in mid-October) that are dedicated to artist/writer parents with at least one dependent child under the age of 18 at home and to full-time caregivers. These sessions are designed for the individual artist/caregiver alone. We are not able to accommodate children, spouses, partners, or collaborators. Our categories include: Poetry Fiction Photography (film or digital) & Filmmaking Painting | Sculpture | Visual Arts Each residency session is comprised of a multi-disciplinary cohort and includes: one poet, one prose writer, one photographer or filmmaker, and two visual artists. These residencies are designed for individual artists and writers; we cannot accommodate collaborations or partners working together. All residencies, regardless of length, function exactly the same way. Each group of five arrives and leaves together, and the application process for all residencies is also exactly the same. Deadline December 6, 2026
